Michele Miyares Hollands
Michele lives and works in Havana. She graduated from ISDI (Instituto Superior de Desiño) in 2002 and is an Art Director of the cultural magazine “La Gaceta de Cuba”, the official publication of The UNEAC (The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba). She has taught for several years at ISDI and at ISA (The Superior Institute of Arts.) She is a member of the Visual Arts Section of The UNEAC, of The Cuban Prographic Committee and of ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations). In 2007 she was awarded the Coral Prize of posters in The 29th International Festival of The New Latin-American Film of Havana. She has been a finalist of the 17th International Lahti Poster Biennial in Finland (2009), of the 2nd International Biennial of Posters in Chicago (2010), of the 11th and 12th editions of the International Poster Biennial in Mexico (2010 and 2012) , the second and third Iberoamerican Biennial of Design in Madrid (2010 and 2012), and recently in the 24th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw (Polonia, 2014). Her work has been exhibited in and outside the country, and reviewed by national and international publications like étapes: (Design and Visual Culturemagazine, no.196, September 2011), and Slanted (Typography and Graphic Design magazine, no.21, 2013). She usually designs posters for ICAIC (The Cuban Institute for Cinema’s Art and Industry), as well as for some major Cuban Publishing Houses.
