Nelson Ponce Sánchez designer and illustrator
Nelson Ponce graduated in 1998 in Visual Communication Design from the Instituto Superior de Desiño in Havana (ISDI).
From 1998 to 2004 he worked for the Information Technology and Telematic Services (CITMATEL), designing the user interface and multimedia Web sites.
Currently Nelson works at the Casa de las Americas, promoting international cultural events and designing some of its print and digital materials.
From 1998-2010 he taught illustration and poster design at ISDI. He has lectured on these topics at universities in Latin America and Europe.
He also works as an independent artist and has worked mainly for cultural institutions such as:
- Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry ICAIC (conceptual work and promotional poster design for events such as the International Festival of Poor Cinema).
- ICL Cuban Book Institute (designing covers and creating illustrations for several publications in the Hummingbird record label among others).
Nelson has received awards for user interfaces for digital media and brand logos, posters, book covers and discs, videos clips.
His work has been exhibited in and outside of Cuba (USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, France, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc.) being referenced in numerous publications.
